Oommen K Mathew, PhD is a highly skilled computational biologist and data scientist with over 12 years of relevant experience. He is currently serving as the Senior Scientist (Computational Biology) and Head of Bioinformatics at AgriGenome Labs Pvt Ltd, where he leads the development of computational biology algorithms that work on multi-core/multi-processor environments and user-friendly web interfaces for applications and databases. Oommen holds a PhD in Bioinformatics from the National Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS) Bangalore, along with an MSc in Bioinformatics and Bachelors in Computer Applications (BCA). He is passionate about genomics, HPC algorithms, bioinformatics, computational biology, and next-generation sequence (NGS) data analysis, among other specialized areas. Oommen is an expert in genome assembly, annotation, protein structures, algorithm development, and bioinformatics software and database development. He has extensive experience in animal genomics, bacterial genomics, plant genomics, metagenomics, microbiome, biological data integration, structural bioinformatics, biological network analysis, and project management. Apart from his technical skills, Oommen is also a technology leader with expertise in Python, R, flask, Scipy, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, webservices, and APIs. He has mentored several professionals in the field and is known for his automation skills. In his free time, Oommen enjoys playing badminton and exploring new places. He is also a music enthusiast and spends his extra time listening to music. His research work has been published in several journals, and he has presented his work at various conferences.
